Abstract: | In this paper, we present a new method for the detection andestimation of events in sensor networks that has performanceguarantees.In the context of sensor networks, the false alarmrate is family-wise and the popular Bonferoni testing procedure would set the false alarm rate so low that the power of detection is severely decreased when the number of hypotheses is huge. Our method is based on the strategy of controlling a quantity called the false discovery rate(FDR) and this admits a more powerful testing procedure. We demonstrate our method in a application ofdetecting boundaries in sensor networks. Compared with previousmethods, our method is advantageous in that it is robust to noise and has statistical performance guarantees. | ||
