Abstract: | We develop a semi-deterministic semi-stochastic channel model forthe multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system under themacrocell environment with local-to-mobile and local-to-basescatterers, and show that the system capacity, multiplexing anddiversity gains are limited by the number of multipath around thebase station. We derive a lower bound on the ergodic capacity andan upper bound on the averaged pairwise error detectionprobability. It is shown that the base-station array affects thetwo different information theoretic measures through the samemetric, and the fading correlation matrix also appears in the twobounds with the same form. Numerical examples show the tightnessof the two bounds. | ||
