Abstract: | In wireless communications, it is often desirable to merge bitdecisions from multiple receivers to improve overall linkperformance. It is well known that in order to optimally fuse bitdecisions from a network of receivers, precise knowledge ofreceiver bit error rates (BERs) is needed. This information, however, is rarely available in practice. In this work, we presentan iterative procedure for blindly estimating receivers BERs toenable near optimal blind fusion of bit decisions in amulti-receiver network. We show that the solution of theestimation problem is a structured eigenvalue task and propose amodified power method procedure to perform it. We prove that thedesired solution is a stable point of the algorithm and thealgorithm is locally stable. Furthermore, we show via simulationsthat the technique results in excellent performance in nearly allpractical operating scenarios. | ||
