Abstract: | Weighted median (WM) filtering structures for complex-valued samples have been proposed but none of them allows the use ofcomplex-valued weights. This paper defines complex-valuedweighting for median filters with complex-valued input samples. Two different approaches to the handling of weights in the complexdomain are presented, both derived from characteristics ofcomplex-valued linear filters, resulting in two definitions of thecomplex weighted median filter. Each filtering strategy isaccompanied by the corresponding algorithm for the calculation ofits optimal weights. Simulations are shown illustrating theperformance of the new complex WM filter structures compared withprevious approaches to the problem and with classical linearfilters. | ||
